How to bring Homesense's AW19 trends into your home

AW19 Trends2

As we say farewell to summer, the interior design world looks forward to what hot seasonal trends will hit our homes during the colder month.

Moving from spring/summer to autumn/winter 2019 (AW19) offers you the perfect opportunity to accentuate your home with soft furnishings, pops of colour and a plethora of patterns to bring an autumnal revamp to your abode.

All-things interiors store Homesense has released its AW19 trends look book, highlighting what trends you need to have in your home to keep it looking on point over the darker months. Here, Avant Life offers tips and tricks on how you can easily achieve interior perfection by following Homesense’s AW19 décor trends.

Eastern allure

This style is all about bringing a calming, harmonious balance to counteract this hectic season, with the introduction of oriental-inspired features. The key to achieving this style is to use the hues of nature to create a scenic landscape and decorate your space with vibrant accents.

Bringing this AW19 trend to your home doesn’t require a complete overhaul – it’s about stripping an interior and accentuating with this eastern allure. The likes of a large bamboo plate can be used as a practical ornament in a living space, whilst a light wood vase will bring that calming edge to your home. For the walls, opting for a tranquil colour palette of predominantly blues and greens will add to the harmony.

Pastel glamour

A simplistic style suited to any home, a pastel palette embellished with metallic accents and soft velvet is a huge player in the AW19 look book. For your colour scheme, opt for soft pinks and lilacs whilst a subtle blue can add that extra depth to the space, and bring metallic features like mirrors, light fittings and lamps for that touch of glamour.

A key space to introduce this interior trend is the bedroom – adding statement furniture, such as a dressing table or ottoman, can really add to the glamour of the room.

Botanical opulence

Whilst botanical design has been a mainstay in our interiors over the last 18 months, the latest carnation is befitting of the autumnal and wintery season. It’s a move away from the bright botanic feel and based more on using rich tones to create an opulent oasis.

Integrating textures together can help add an exotic feel to the space, particularly with velvet playing an essential part of this trend. Dip-dyed fringe is also a must– think soft furnishings like an armchair or footstool with a statement fringed feature, or on a smaller scale, opt for a lampshade or cushion case. A throw for your sofa or a rug in a rich botanic tone can also add to the opulence.

Nomadic wanderlust

The Nomadic wanderlust look brings a travel-infused interior style which juxtaposes the season it’s meant for. This décor is about natural textures and tones from the summer months to give your home that vacation feel. Wicker, rattan, bamboo and terracotta used across furnishings and accessories will allow those holiday vibes to flood your home.

Homesense stylist, Jo Thornhill, suggests taking inspiration from your autumnal spice rack when it comes to choosing your colours for this AW19 interior trend. A palette of turmeric, paprika and cinnamon across your décor will be sure to appease your post-holiday blues.
