Situated near the gorgeous Shropshire Hills – an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Telford parks are some of the most beloved in the West Midlands.

Parks in Telford range from thrilling to idyllic with several in-between. There’s a park for everyone in Telford, whether they’re keen anglers, athletes or admirers of the natural world.

Explore some of the most popular parks in Telford below:

Telford Town Park

A park for the adventurous, Telford Town Park is home to a wide array of adventure courses – from their Sky Reach High Ropes course to their Adventure Golf and Disc Golf courses – and is a popular choice for a quirky, let-your-hair-down type of a date or a weekend treat for the kids.

The park is also home to the beautiful Maxell and Chelsea Gardens and has four fishing pools that make for a more tranquil day out. With cycling and walking trails a-plenty and an extensive playground, it’s hard to be bored at Telford Town Park.

Apley Woods

A park for the avid art lover, Apley Woods is the site of a number of beautiful sculptures like the famous Energy Rising Sculpture and the various woodland artworks that adorn its forests. And, at the heart of the park is the stunning Grade II-listed Apley Castle.

Apley Woods also has its fair share of non-manmade beauties, with its popular Tree Trail lined with rare specimen trees and being home to a diverse selection of birds. The park is well mapped out with a number of guides placed across the park, highlighting where the best walks and cycling trails are.

Dawley Park

A park with some excellent sports and leisure facilities, in addition to an outdoor gym, Dawley Park also features two tennis courts and a bowling green.

Thoughtfully laid out, Dawley Park is also home to some really pretty floral displays as well as a touching memorial garden.

An easy day out with the kids, Dawley Park also features a play area designed to cater to children aged 3 to 14.

Hartshill Park

Home to a miners’ memorial, a Royal British Legion Poppy Bed and Grade II listed Oakengates War Memorial gates, Hartshill Park holds a special place in the hearts of many a Telford local. The park also has a well-looked after conservation area.

The facilities offered Hartshill are also considerable, with the park’s two football pitches, two floodlit all-weather tennis courts, and bowling club & pavilion making it perfectly suited to a whole range of social activities.

Hartshill is also one of the few parks in Telford with a bandstand – a lovely addition to what already is a wonderful little park.

Dale End Park

Offering beautiful views of The Gorge and River Severn, Dale End is a lovely park by the river that was known to host incredible regattas.

Perfect if you enjoy pleasant riverside walks, Dale End also has several beautifully lit pathways (we recommend going for an early evening stroll) as well as some delightful floral displays.

The park’s regatta playing fields provide the perfect space for a whole number of outdoor sports, and the park also has a lovely little play area for the kids as well.

Granville Country Park

Part of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Granville Country Park is a 24-hectare nature reserve that’s home to a whole array of diverse wildlife.

One of the few parks in Telford where you can spot creatures like Dingy Skippers as Green Hairstreaks as well as Ox-Eye Daisies, Cowslips and Yellow Rattles, Granville Country Park is a must-visit for any nature lover.

The park’s small and easily climbable hills, despite their relatively diminutive size, also provide visitors with excellent views of the surrounding countryside.

Bowring Park

A park with a little bit of everything, Bowring Park has an incredible selection of facilities on offer.

With four floodlit, all-weather tennis courts, grass tennis courts, two football pitches, two bowling greens, a cricket pitch, and a number of changing rooms, Bowring Park is arguably one of the most complete parks in Telford.

The park also has a café, a children’s play area and car parking as well!
