Living in Chesterfield

All of this, right on your doorstep

Chesterfield has plenty of great things to do and a variety of attractions for everyone, no matter your interests.

If you're an art lover, the Interactive Art Trail will definitely be of interest thanks to more than 50 installations across town to discover, while Bolsover Castle is a must visit for history buffs, with plenty to do and see both indoors and outdoors, including the Fountain Garden and the Wall Walk.

For the young ones, there are also plenty of family-friendly attractions in Chesterfield. For fun days at play centres, visit the Jilbee Land Play Centre, which has bouncy castles and different play areas, or Sugar Snap Play, which is perfect for children under 5. And if you have older kids, why not take them to the Chesterfield Escape Rooms to have a go at one of their experiences?

And for a sunny day out, you can visit Poolsbrook Country Park, the biggest park in Chesterfield with its play area, or head to Queen's Park, which has not one but two playgrounds, a miniature railway, and plenty more.


Shopping in Chesterfield

No matter what you're after when it comes to shopping, there is something for every budget and need near one of our new homes in Chesterfield.

For example, there are many independent and high-street shops scattered around the town centre, which can be found on the main street, as well as in The Shambles and The Yards.

But if you want to go on a shopping spree all in one place, be sure to head to Pavements Shopping Centre and Vicar Lane Outdoor Shopping Centre. Plus, within walking distance of the town centre, you'll also find Ravenside Retail Park, which is home to plenty of shops and restaurants.

And if you like supporting the local community, be sure to pop into Chesterfield Market Hall for either one of the speciality markets that take place each month or to explore the amazing shops on offer. Why not also treat yourself to a slice of cake and a drink of choice at the Market Café while you're there?


Transport in Chesterfield

Our new builds in Chesterfield are served by the nearby M1, which is accessible via the A617, for any trips between Leeds and London. The A61 also cuts right through the town, linking Sheffield and Alfreton, making it an ideal route for commuters working in the area.

In the centre of town, Chesterfield train station offers regular direct links to major cities like London, Newcastle, and Leeds, as well as hourly services to Edinburgh.

Regular buses also run through Chesterfield, mostly operated by Derbyshire Buses, with some enabling travel to nearby villages as well as to bigger cities in the East Midlands, including Nottingham and Derby.

For international travel, East Midlands Airport is the closest airport to Chesterfield and can be reached in under an hour by car. It’s an ideal hub for anyone looking to travel either domestically or abroad with regular flights to sunny and fascinating destinations, ranging from Cyprus to the United States.

If you fancy some Italian food, the award-winning and family run Lombardi's Ristorante Italiano and Giorgio's Italian, which serves traditional Italian dishes with a twist, will satisfy any craving. As for some standout Turkish options, Afat's Grill and The Divan Restaurant both fit the bill.

Craving steak? You're sure to find an excellent one at Galleon Steakhouse, since that’s what they specialise in.

And exquisite fine dining also awaits just a short ten-minute drive away in Holymoorside, where you can visit The Bulls Head, while more traditional British cuisine can be found closer to home at The Market Pub, which is known for its handmade traditional British pies with a range of fillings to choose from.
