West Yorkshire is a metropolitan county in the Yorkshire region of England. A popular place to live, we’ve put together a list of some of the best places to live West Yorkshire and why you should consider moving there.

Living in Leeds

Leeds is a vibrant and diverse city in the north of England with a rich history and culture. One of the main reasons people choose to live in Leeds is due to the city's strong economy and job opportunities. Leeds is home to a number of major businesses and industries, making it an attractive location for professionals and entrepreneurs.

Living in Wakefield

A charming and historic city, Wakefield is often seen as one of the best places to live in West Yorkshire, especially thanks to its strong sense of community. 

One of the things that people love about Wakefield is its abundance of green spaces, including Pugneys Country Park, Sandal Castle and Anglers Country Park. These beautiful parks offer residents the opportunity to soak up nature, relax and participate in a number of outdoor sports. 

Wakefield also offers a wide range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, with a variety of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, as well as a number of theatres and cultural venues.

For young families, Wakefield has a number of excellent schools including a new Arts and Dance College.

Living in Huddersfield 

Huddersfield is a town known for its diverse culture and friendly community, with the town's unique architecture standing out to most thanks to notable buildings including the Victorian Huddersfield Train Station, the Huddersfield Town Hall and Huddersfield University. 

Huddersfield also has many outdoor spaces to choose from including the beautiful Beaumont Park, the Castle Hill and the Colne Valley – all perfect for hiking or picnicking at.

The town also has great transport links via rail to other major cities like Leeds, Manchester, and London, if you fancy travelling further afield for a day out.

Living in Castleford

Castleford is a town with a tight-knit and welcoming atmosphere, with a number of community events, festivals and activities occurring throughout the year like its Roman heritage festival and its various food and beer festivals. 

The town is home to several beautiful natural spaces such as the Aire and Calder Navigation canal which is popular amongst keen anglers, but if you’re a sports fan, Castleford is also famous for its rugby team - Castleford Tigers – whose home games are always a thrill to attend.

The town is also home to the Xscape Entertainment Complex with offers a number of popular activities including their laser zone, a bowling alley, 4D golf, cinema and gym.
