You won't be short of things to do near our new build homes in Sunderland, with plenty of sights to see and family-friendly activities and attractions on offer.

Head to the Blue Flag award-winning Roker and Seaburn Beaches for a fantastic day out with the kids. Roker Park is also easily accessible from the beach and has two play areas as well as other attractions for children. Beyond Roker Park, there are also four other Green Flag Awarded Parks in the city, including Herrington Country Park.

Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens in the city centre is the place to explore everything to do with Sunderland and its history and heritage. This free-entry museum is perfect for families, featuring four floors with plenty to see.

And for more indoor activities, any art lovers should visit the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, situated within the National Glass Centre, while fans of theatre and comedy will want to head to the Sunderland Empire Theatre.

Transport in Sunderland

The city offers excellent connections to other parts of the country due to being conveniently located near the A1(M), meaning that living in one of our new homes in Sunderland will give you easy access to the likes of London, Sheffield and Edinburgh by car.

Being quite a small, walkable city, getting around on foot is possible, and a lot of the major spots are within walking distance of each other, but if you prefer taking the bus, the Park Lane bus station is the main hub, giving residents access to reliable services in and out of the city centre.

The Tyne and Wear Metro is another great way to get around, with many stations located across Sunderland. It also offers easy access to places in the North East, including Newcastle, which is reachable in 20 minutes.

Sunderland Central Train Station also runs services to London via York and nearby Newcastle and Durham stations.

You can also get to Newcastle International Airport on the metro or by car in less than an hour, where you can hop onto flights to Europe and the United States, among other destinations.

Shopping in Sunderland

Fancy some retail therapy near our new build homes in Sunderland? Head to The Bridges in the heart of city. This shopping centre has nearly 100 of your high street favourites, including big retailers like Primark. Jacky Whites indoor market is also located here and offers a range of products, from fresh pies to carpets and rugs.

Mackie's Corner is another great shopping destination in Sunderland, with a range of independent shops all in one place.

Just a short drive away, you'll also find Dalton Park, a retail park with amazing discounts all year round and over 60 well-known brands, including Adidas and Levi’s.

Additionally, The Galleries is just 20 minutes outside of Sunderland city centre in Washington, and is home to some of the UK's biggest retailers as well as a selection of popular fast-food chains and a bowling alley.

Restaurants in Sunderland

Sunderland is also full of great options when it comes to places to eat, meaning that with so many restaurants to choose from near our new builds in Sunderland, you'll never go hungry.

Some popular dining spots among locals include The Engine Room at The Fire Station, serving a range of international dishes, and Sheepfolds Stables, which is home to several independent restaurants, including Italian staple Vito's Osteria.

Some great choices for Indian cuisine include award-winning My Delhi and family-run Alishaan By The Sea, and if you ever find yourself craving a bite before watching a show at the Sunderland Empire Theatre, then Spice Empire is also a worthy stop.
