Shopping in Stirlingshire

The best destination in Stirlingshire for shopping is without a doubt Stirling, but smaller towns and villages have many unique local independent shops worth checking out.

For pure retail therapy, you can find more than 70 of the top names in high-street fashion at Thistles, the main shopping centre in Stirling, while the nearby Murray Place and Port Street have even more high-street shops along with places to eat.

You'll also find the Stirling Farmers' Market on Port Street, which takes place on the second Saturday of every month. Here, you can browse a range of handmade goods and local Scottish produce.

If you want to buy local produce at another time, McKechnies Farm Shop and Blairmains Farm Shop are both great options. They offer locally sourced Scottish produce, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, meats, and more!

A bit further afield, Affinity Sterling Mills Outlet Shopping is east of Stirlingshire, in Tillicoultry. This outlet has over 25 shops, a play park, and regular events on offer, perfect for families with children.


Transport in Stirlingshire

Getting around Scotland by car from our new build homes in Stirlingshire is simple, thanks to the multiple motorways running close to or through the county.

For example, hop onto the M80 for easy access to Glasgow to the south and trips further north, or take the M9 for trips to Edinburgh. You can also get to the likes of Newcastle, Leeds, and Manchester in less than 5 hours.

There are six train stations across Stirlingshire, with the main two in Stirling and Dunblane providing links to other cities across Scotland, such as Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, as well as other parts of the United Kingdom, including London.

First Bus operates across the county, while in more rural areas where there are no regular bus routes, the DRT operates as a taxi but costs around the same as a bus fare.

You can also get to Edinburgh Airport in less than an hour by car, meaning that if you're chasing the sun on holiday or want to travel further afield to places like Morocco, you're in luck!

The menu at Karma Lake Of Menteith in Stirling is a true representation of Scotland, with dishes including the likes of Barbary Duck and Scottish Oysters, alongside pizza or burgers made using local ingredients with a farm-to-table approach.

If you want to dine at a restaurant where you can share small plates, head to City Walls. This pub is perfect for catching a game and dancing along to music, all while enjoying some classic pub grub.

Favourites among locals in Dunblane include The Kailyard by Nick Nairn, serving contemporary British cuisine with a range of fine wines to choose from to accompany your meal, as well as The Riverside, which is more on the casual side and perfect for a hearty meal.

In Callander, Scott's Bistro offers dinner every day of the week as well as lunch on the weekends, made with fresh, locally sourced produce.
