For a fun family day out, head to Sherwood Pines, where your children can enjoy playing at King John's Castle or go on a zip wire adventure at Go Ape

Fans of history should pay a visit to Mansfield Museum to find out more about the town’s past, and with its interactive elements, it’s sure to also keep your children engaged.

Many annual events take place in Mansfield making the town feel alive throughout the year. For example, Mansfield Carnival showcases different parts of the world with activities including a parade, street party, and music performances, while Japan Fest focuses on Japanese culture.

Transport in Mansfield

The M1 is the closest motorway to Mansfield, making travel to Newcastle, London and other places across the country a breeze. The A60 also runs through the town, allowing easy drives to Nottingham as well as Chesterfield, Derby and Sheffield.

There are two train stations in Mansfield – Mansfield station and Mansfield Woodhouse station – both operating trains to Worksop and Nottingham. From there, you can easily get to other cities like Leicester and Leeds by catching a connecting train.

And with nearly 30 different bus routes available in and around town, travelling without a car from our new builds in Mansfield is very straightforward.

As for any holiday destinations, head over to East Midlands Airport, which is just over 30 minutes away, allowing for trips to the likes of Prague, Barcelona, or Krakow, among others.

Conveniently located in the centre of Mansfield with more than 50 shops and eateries, Four Seasons Shopping Centre is perfect for a shopping spree. It’s also home to “The Hive”, a community space where regular events for families are held, making it a great place to visit with children.

Fresh produce can be found at Mansfield Market, which is open from Wednesday to Saturday and has been a staple in the town for more than 700 years. It’s also a great choice for anyone who wants to grab a bite at the food court on their day out.

Lovers of Italian cuisine will be sure to find a restaurant to suit their tastes, such as the family-run Britalia Italian, headed by an award-winning chef and serving traditional dishes and pizza with modern twists.

For a taste of India, head to Victoria Tandoori or Rima-Faz Indian, both with a range of authentic Asian cuisines on the menu, as well as plenty of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. 

If you’re after traditional British food, The Devonshire is known for serving British dishes for lunch and dinner, with dedicated vegan and Sunday lunch menus, while Foxglove is another worthy mention, as this bar serves restaurant-quality dishes and is a great brunch and dinner destination. 

And for a real treat, head to Refined, one of the best restaurants in Mansfield. This AA Rosette award-winning restaurant takes pride in using seasonal products to prepare their fine-dining menu, which changes regularly throughout the year.
