Our new build homes in Yorkshire are within easy reach of numerous historical landmarks and exciting attractions the whole family can enjoy, such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It’s located just 7 miles outside of Wakefield, between Leeds and Sheffield, and is the largest sculpture park in Europe. It was founded in 1977 by British curator Sir Peter Murray CBE and is home to works from renowned artists like Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Damien Hirst, Kimsooja, and more.

History lovers who enjoy the outdoors shouldn’t miss Mother Shipton’s Cave and the Petrifying Well, and Skipton Castle. Open since 1630, Mother Shipton’s Cave is England’s oldest visitor attraction and the legendary birthplace of the prophetess said to have predicted the Great Fire of London. Beside it, the mineral-rich waters of the Petrifying Well can turn everyday objects to stone in just three to five months. Skipton Castle offers a different kind of history; but one that’s just as enticing. Built in 1090, it is one of England’s best-preserved medieval castles, with dungeons, kitchens and bedchambers once used by the Clifford family.

Chocolate fanatics can head to York Cocoa Works, a working chocolate manufactory and café in the heart of York centre. See bean-to-bar chocolate making in action, take part in their hands-on chocolate making workshops and guided tours, and enjoy a signature hot chocolate.

Another top interactive attraction is Hull’s The Deep; an aquarium that explores everything from shallow tropical lagoons to the creatures from the darkest depths of the oceans. With guided tours and presentations, there’s plenty to see and do. You can even hire the venue for family sleepovers!

Transport in Yorkshire

One great benefit of buying one of our new builds in Yorkshire is the sheer amount of transport links across the county and beyond.

The M62 is the main east-west motorway and connects Lancashire and Yorkshire, stretching from the Greater Manchester border through West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire. It connects places like Leeds and Bradford to the city of Hull. For a north-south commuter route, the M1 passes through Sheffield and Barnsley, and then merges into the A1 taking traffic across South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and North Yorkshire, and up towards Scotland.

Leeds Station is the central rail hub for the region. It offers direct links to London King’s Cross in around 2 hours 15 minutes, as well as trains to Edinburgh and Newcastle. York Station is another option that also connects travellers to London in under two hours and has trains running between smaller Yorkshire towns.

Hull Paragon Interchange combines rail, coach, and local bus services in a single terminal, making it convenient for commuters who rely on a mix of public transport options.

For those in Sheffield, Sheffield Interchange is a major regional transport hub located next to the main railway station, providing comprehensive bus, coach, and Supertram services.

There are also plenty of airports for frequent flyers, too. Leeds Bradford Airport serves as the primary international gateway for West and North Yorkshire, while Humberside Airport caters to the Humber region specifically and flies to most destinations via Amsterdam.

Shopping in Yorkshire

One of the largest shopping malls in Yorkshire is Sheffield’s Meadowhall. It contains over 280 stores offering almost everything you could ever need from high street favourites. There is also a cinema with 11 screens, and you’ll find 50 dining options serving small bites and sweet treats to sit-down meals, making it perfect for relaxing after a full day of shopping. The Shopping Arcades in Leeds is another great option for owners of our new homes in Yorkshire. These Victorian Arcades each have their own distinct character and are home to high-end brands, high-street retailers, independent shops, and cafes and restaurants.

For a very different shopping experience, The Shambles in York is a must-visit. This iconic street is filled-to-bursting with independent stores selling an array of quirky items. This includes the often-viral Ghost Merchants, where you can purchase a handmade clay ghost model. Hebden Bridge offers a similar vibe with its streets overflowing with independent book and craft shops and quirky gift shops.

The town of Beverley is also a great place to shop as it’s bursting with retailers. There’s even a weekly market on Saturdays for homemade goods, handcrafted items, and fresh produce.

For home purchases, Leeds IKEA is one option, offering budget-friendly flatpack furniture and a wide array of home accessories. Canklow Meadows Retail Park in Rotherham is another, with a Dunelm and a Wickes.

Finally, for food shopping and general day-to-day amenities, the region has hundreds of supermarkets, with the largest being Asda Pudsey Superstore and the Seacroft Tesco Extra.

Restaurants in Yorkshire

From fun, family-friendly experiences to fine dining, buyers of our new build homes in Yorkshire can enjoy culinary delights from cuisines around the world.

Billy Bob’s Parlour is a 1950’s-style American diner situated in Skipton. With checkered floors, vinyl booths, and neon signs, the fun starts as soon as you enter the building. On the menu are classic American comfort food dishes like skillet breakfast hash, New York-style hot dogs, and chicken and waffles, as well as soda floats and sundaes. The servers even wear 50s themed uniforms!

In Ripon is Manchega, a quaint restaurant serving up South American and Spanish-influenced tapas. Their ethos is rooted in high quality and, where possible, locally sourced ingredients. With dishes like salted cod croquetas and chorizo al vino and a selection of delicious cocktails on the menu, it’s a delicious experience for any foodie.

For pizza lovers, Doncaster’s The Rustic Pizza Co serves up authentic hand stretched wood fired Neapolitan pizzas and hand-pulled Italian coffee. Situated in a cosy venue at the Waterside, you can enjoy your meal while admiring the waterfront views. Every Friday, the venue also has live music so you can indulge while watching a local performer.

One thing Yorkshire also isn’t short of is Michelin star restaurants like The Angel at Hetton. Under two Michelin-star chef, Michael Wignall, the restaurant creates elegant, seasonal tasting menus using fresh produce and fine dining techniques.

Another option is Fifty Two in Harrogate, where you can devour a series of courses including snacks and fresh breads, tasting plates, and more.
