The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is a must-see in the county, looked after by the National Trust for Scotland. Burns is Scotland’s National Bard, his poetry and songs are loved by the world over. Discover the man and his genius in the beautiful village of Alloway.

Prepare to be awe-stricken at Culzean Castle and County Park. Explore the gardens, woods, trails, beaches, adventure playgrounds, and the main event, a vast cliff-top castle offering stunning coastal views. There really is something for all the family in this wildlife-rich 260ha estate.

Nestled on the North Ayrshire coastline overlooking Arran, West Kilbride is Scotland's first accredited Craft Town. Known as “The Village, West Kilbride might be a small town, but it offers a great range of independent shops and designer stores that complement its major cultural attractions, The Barony Centre, and Craft Studios.

Goatfell is a mountain on the Isle of Arran and at 2,866 ft, it’s the highest point on the island. The Arran skyline is dominated by the majestic summits and ridges of Goatfell and the hills that surround it. It’s a spectacular example of the rugged landscape formed during the last ice age. Walkers often head towards the summit, which is a challenging climb, but the spectacular views make it all worth it.


Rivergate is undoubtedly Scotland’s largest shopping centre, boasting high street favourites, free parking, and a large ASDA. Similarly, Burns Mall in Kilmarnock town centre offers over 20 stores for when only some much-needed retail therapy will do.

Discover Scotch whisky and its fascinating heritage when you visit the A. D. Rattray distillery located in the heart of Ayrshire. The site is also home to the Whisky Shop. Established in 1868, discover more about A. D. Rattray, the history of the distillery, and its whiskies. Browse the ever-changing range of Single Cask and Single Malt whiskies and many shop exclusives like the House Malt and Warehouse Collection.

Whether you’re looking for a new sofa, DIY tools, a new gadget, or just want to do the weekly shop, Heathfield Retail Park offers several large outlets including Homebase, ASDA, Curry’s, Dreams, DFS, and Halfords, as well as fast-food chains Pizza Hut and KFC.


With neighbouring Glasgow nearby, travel to other parts of the country, England, and abroad is straightforward. Glasgow Central Station links Glasgow by train to the south and England, while Glasgow Queen Street Station mainly links to Edinburgh and the north of the country. The city is also near major motorways, so whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure, drivers can easily access other parts of the UK.

For those wanting to travel further afield, Glasgow Airport is a mere 15 minutes from the city centre, offering flights to Europe, USA, Dubai, and more as well as quick and easy domestic travel.

East and West Kilbride train stations will get you to Glasgow in under an hour and Ayr train station in an hour exactly.
