Avant Homes granted planning for £41.9m, 179-home multi-tenure development near Barnsley

Avant Homes will deliver 179 new homes in Dodworth, near Barnsley, after being granted planning permission for a £41.9m multi-tenure residential development.
Called Smithy Wood Gate and located on Calver Lane, the development will comprise a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes.
It will feature 13 of Avant Homes’ practically designed, energy efficient house types and prices for the properties are to be released at a later date. Of the 179 homes, 40 are designated affordable housing.
Work at Smithy Wood Gate is expected to start on site in August, with the first residents anticipated to move into their new homes in March 2025.
