Avant Homes has been granted planning permission for a £67m, 289 new home development in Thurnscoe, near Barnsley.

Called Thorn Wood Gardens and located off Thurnscoe Bridge Lane, the development will comprise a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. It will feature 14 of Avant Homes’ practically designed, energy efficient house types.

Work is expected to start on site in the spring, with the first homes anticipated to be released for sale later this year.

Two showhomes - the three-bedroom detached Cadeby house type and four-bedroom detached Wentbridge - are scheduled to open in December, with the first residents expected to move in by the end of the month.

Thorn Wood Gardens is being delivered by Avant Homes West Yorkshire. The regional operating business’s managing director, Richard Hosie, said: “Thorn Wood Gardens showcases our ongoing commitment to delivering quality new homes in locations where people want to live.

“Now that planning has been granted, we look forward to starting works on site to deliver our development of practically design, energy efficient homes.”
