New homes in
East Kilbride

Welcome to East Kilbride, Scotland’s first-ever New Town.

Set up in the 1950s to give Glaswegians displaced after World War 2 a place to live, East Kilbride over time has become its own self-contained community.

A town that benefitted from significant investment during the 50s and 60s, East Kilbride is now a cultural hub in and of itself, with prominent sports facilities, performance venues, and retail outlets all being situated there.

If you’re interested in joining a growing community that continues to rapidly evolve, why not consider checking out our development in East Kilbride?

Living in East Kilbride

All of this, right on your doorstep

Things to do

When it comes to developing its recreational sector, East Kilbride really pushed the boat out with the Dollan Aqua Centre; the first champion-sized swimming pool in Scotland.

With a design inspired by the complexes used for the Japanese and Italian Olympic games – it is worth visiting if only to admire the sheer scale of such an impressive achievement...plus it is a hell of a workout too!

Fancy something less active? You could always catch a play down at the East Kilbride Village Theatre.

Or you could visit the East Kilbride Arts Centre. With plenty of activities for children and adults alike to get involved in, it is a great place to unleash your inner artist.

With all this talk of art, perhaps there’s no muse more inspiring than East Kilbride’s Calderglen Gorge forest. Renowned for its beauty, allow yourself to be enamored by this paradise that’s right on your doorstep.

Or to find out more about what East Kilbride was like before it transformed into a “new town” – you could visit their National Museum of Rural Life or the East Kilbride Central Library.

Shopping

Most of the large retailers in East Kilbride are housed within 1 of the 6 malls that make up EK - "Scotland's biggest undercover shopping centre".

EK is formed of the Centre West, Plaza, Princes Square/Princes Mall, and the Olympia/Southgate/The Hub developments.

The centre boasts over 150 brands, from fashion labels such as Next, New Look and River Island to finding your everyday essentials in Home Bargains or Poundland.

You can find just about everything you need – at a single shopping centre situated in East Kilbride’s town centre.

Transport

East Kilbride is 27 minutes away from Glasgow by train.

The region's railway station is situated in The Village and there’s usually a train to Glasgow every 30 minutes or so.

East Kilbride also offers bus services around the town with its primary operator being First Glasgow.

The bus station is located just a short 10-minute walk away from East Kilbride railway station.

If choosing to visit Glasgow by car, a short drive down the A727, A749 or the M77 will get you there.

Food

Eating out around East Kilbride is a real experience; Flavours range from authentic Italian eateries to restaurants that resemble more of a cultural immersion than a meal.

Take the Nepalese and Indian restaurant, the Wee Gurkha Curry House, for example. A stone's throw away from our new builds in East Kilbride, the owners of this curry house have made a concerted effort to only use herbs local to Nepal – and have foregone excessive fat and salt for subtler, more authentic seasoning.

But this commitment to authentic cultural experiences is not unique to the Wee Gurkha Curry House.

No, in East Kilbride you will find restaurants like the Italian diner, Arigo, that swap out generic cliches like Spaghetti Bolognese for authentic Italian dishes that make you feel like you are in Italy.

However, what would a Scottish town be without traditional Scottish favourites?

Places such as the homely café, Loupin Stone, serve up a delicious all-day Scottish breakfast.

Or why not experience pieces of East Kilbride’s history while you eat by visiting the Torrance Hotel?

A building that dates back to 1773 (pre-dating East Kilbride itself), the Torrance Hotel boasts a beautiful beer garden and an open and airy conservatory that has been converted into a fine dining restaurant.

More than anything else though, East Kilbride is a place for families. Why not take your kids to the Hungry Horse which offers free breakfast for kids between 8 am and 12 pm?

Essentially, no matter what you are after, there’s something tasty on your doorstep when you move into our new homes in East Kilbride!
