Tell us a little bit about yourselves: 

We’ve been together for 8 years and got married in April 2022, before welcoming our baby girl, Raya Blake, in January this year. We have a ginger cat called Hector, who can usually be seen sat in one of our windows. Not forgetting our leopard gecko called Draco, who is much less sociable! I work as an Employment Advisor, where I support vulnerable and disabled people get back to work, and Ciaran works in a local children’s home. Before buying our Avant home we were homeowners for 5 and a half years, after buying our first 2 bedroom home in Tapton, Chesterfield in 2018. 

Which house type did you buy and why did you choose it?

We choose the Leyburn, we fell in love with the layout of the house and how bright it always is no matter the weather, due to number of windows it has. The Leyburn is a very spacious house type, making it the perfect family home for us.

Why did you choose Avant Homes over other developers? 

The customer service we received from Avant was fantastic from our first enquiry, any queries we’ve had right from the start have been resolved quickly with a personal service. The properties Avant had to offer were the best we had viewed, and we fell in love with the Leyburn as soon as we saw it! 

Do you know any family or friends that already lived in an Avant home?

We know a few people that have bought with Avant, and they have all put any ‘new build horror stories’ to bed, we have had no issues with our home at all! 

What was your motivation for moving home? 

When our 5 year fixed rate ended on our old property, we were a few months off welcoming our daughter. We knew we would need more space for her growing up, and we wanted our next home to be our forever home that would be perfect for us all at any age. When we found our Avant development and the Leyburn we knew we could move in and not need to move again.

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

We liked the idea of everything being done and having no work to do once we moved in, due to us juggling a new baby at the same time. We weren’t totally against buying a second-hand home, but the new build home we chose blew our socks off! 

How did you find the buying process?

Our buying process was as straight forward as it can be when buying a home. We were always kept informed with updates and things moved along very smoothly. On completion, we were shown around our home thoroughly at our home demonstration and the Sales Advisor and Site Manager were very helpful. We are extremely happy with the overall service we received from Avant during the process. 

What do you love about your Avant Home?

The fact that our home is detached makes it feel much more private and we love the low maintenance, level garden that will be perfect for our daughter to play in when she’s older. We also love how bright the house is due to the multiple windows in most rooms, we have an amazing view from our bedroom too! The convenience of having a utility room, downstairs toilet and en-suite has made our life so much easier. We also loved choosing our optional extras, we picked a shower screen on our bath and a fitted wardrobe in our bedroom. 

How has your life changed since you moved into your Avant home?

We were one of the first to move in on our development, but our neighbours and community have been lovely, which has made us feel very welcome and safe.

Do you have any tips for anyone looking to buy with Avant Homes?

Make sure to look at multiple properties on different sites and ask any questions you may have, but otherwise go for it! 

Is there anything else you want to add about your home buying journey?

We’ve had a fantastic experience buying our new home and would definitely recommend Avant Homes to family and friends.
