Tell us a little bit about yourselves:

Justin and I have been together for seven and a half years, married for six. I work as a hotel General Manager and have worked in the hotel industry for 24 years. Justin is an Area Sales Manager for a company who manufacture solid surface worktops and sinks. Fun fact, we got married in Las Vegas! We have one child each. I have a fourteen-year-old son and Justin has a fourteen-year-old daughter. Alongside three cats called Max, Harley, and Ziggy. As a family we love watching Aston Villa FC, although we don’t always get to watch them in person, we never miss a game.

Which house type did you buy and why did you choose it?

We chose the 4 bedroom detached Kintbury. We loved the space this house type had, it’s just perfect for us as a family with two teenagers. We are social people, so the idea of having such an open kitchen was a winner for us. It’s the perfect space for dining, cooking, talking and being able to do all that in one area is just amazing. Our plot is a corner plot, overlooking fields with a bricked wall surrounded, south facing garden. What more could we want; it just ticked every box.

What was your motivation for moving?

We wanted a house that was ours together. Our previous home was owned by myself for sixteen years, so we wanted a place to call ‘ours’. We had also really outgrown that house.

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

It was my personal preference to buy a new build property, as my last property was a new build too. I loved that it had never belonged to anyone else beforehand, everything is sparking new. It also provides a blank canvas to create something amazing and personal.

How did you find the buying process?

It was actually really easy. We reserved this plot in January 2023, and once we had completed the Part Exchange documents, our previous home was put on the market. Then by June, our home was completed and ready to move in to. So to be in the house after five months was fantastic, it was meant to be.

What do you love most about your Avant Home?

It’s just perfect! We love the space, but also the cosiness of the living room. I can’t wait for the winter to be sat curled up with a glass of wine and the heating on. But then also being in the kitchen on Christmas day, cooking and being with the kids in our social space. All the four bedrooms are so different to each other, in terms of space and layout. We look forward to turning those rooms into something special.

Did you go for any upgrades from Avant’s optional extra range?

Yes, we upgraded the fridge, oven and hob. We also added outside lights, additional electrical points, an outside water tap and undercounter lighting in the kitchen.

How has life changed since you moved into your Avant Home?

As a family, we now enjoy coming home. We enjoy welcoming friends and family into our new home, as I love to show it off.

Do you have any tips for anyone looking to buy with Avant Homes?

Make sure you do your research, so you can make the right decisions on your new home. Make sure to go and view the house type show home to see the space and view the plot location to get a feel for what your view will be like, and what surrounds you.
