Avant Homes starts work on new £23.5m, 104-home development in Great Houghton, Barnsley

Avant Homes has started construction on its £23.5m, 104 new-home development in Great Houghton, Barnsley.
Called Houghton Place and located on High Street, the development comprises a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.
The development features 14 of Avant Homes’ practically designed, energy efficient house types, including terrace, semi-detached and detached homes.
Avant Homes anticipates it will release its first homes for sale early next year. A show home is scheduled to open in spring 2027, and the first residents are expected to move into their new homes by summer 2027.
Houghton Place is being delivered by Avant Homes West Yorkshire. The regional operating company’s managing director, Richard Hosie, said: “Starting work at Houghton Place marks another important milestone as we continue to deliver practically designed, energy efficient homes across South Yorkshire.
“Great Houghton offers the ideal mix of rural village life, access to a range of everyday amenities and easy connections to the likes of Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield.
“Our development is providing a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes, suitable for a range of buyers in the local area, from young and growing families to first time buyers and downsizers.
“Now works have started, we look forward to the development taking shape and helping prospective buyers find out more about living at Houghton Place when the first homes are launched in the new year.”
