Avant Home donate Funds To West Rainton Parish Council For Village Memorial Tree

A new public memorial which has been part funded by Avant Homes has been unveiled in the village of West Rainton in County Durham.
The memorial, which was the idea of West Rainton Parish Council, has been designed to resemble a mulberry tree. It features a trunk constructed from hand carved granite with weathered steel branches and 250 handmade green granite leaves.
The leaves of the tree are available for people to lease for up to 20 years where they can have a dedicated inscription to commemorate their loved ones.
Commenting on the donation, Avril Wallage, Chair of the Parish Council said: “We are very grateful to Avant Homes for their donation towards the installation of our village memorial tree.
“This project has been in the planning for some considerable time and it’s great to finally see it in its new home and ready for local people to add their messages and memories.”
The money donated by Avant Homes helped the parish council to install the tree as a permanent fixture in the village’s cemetery at The Parish Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, which is located less than half-a-mile from Avant Homes’ Allenson View development.
Avant Homes head of sales, Miranda Parry, said: “The parish council’s memorial tree is a brilliant village project that is really dedicated to local people, and we’re so pleased we could make a contribution to its installation.
“We are always happy to support local projects in the areas in which we build and look forward to seeing the community celebrate and remember their loved ones with this wonderful memorial.”
