Owlthorpe is located in the eastern part of Sheffield and was originally part of Derbyshire but was later transferred to the metropolitan and ceremonial county of South Yorkshire.

Much of Owlthorpe’s appeal comes from its Rother Valley Country Park, situated just ten minutes away from Nexus Point.


A place that’s fun for all the family, Rother Valley Country Park boasts various watersports facilities, cycling trails, an aqua park, and an animal farm. If you are feeling peckish, you can also nip over to the onsite café for a refreshing drink and tasty snack.

There are also a number of outdoor activities, close to Nexus Point, to throw yourself into. These include Gulliver's World Theme Park, a plethora of golf courses and the Shirebrook Valley nature reserve. With Crystal Peaks shopping centre nearby, you will never have to worry about your weekly shopping needs being met.

In addition to the famed university, Sheffield is home to several schools which have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted. Nexus Point is also close to a great selection of primary and secondary schools, with Rainbow Forge Primary Academy and Waterthorpe Nursery Infants School being the closest.

For the thrill seeker, Gulliver’s Valley theme park is a ten-minute drive from Nexus Point. Here you will find a wonderful selection of attractions and activities that the whole family can enjoy. This includes themed play areas, a wide selection of rides and plenty of tempting food outlets.

Another of Owlthorpe’s major attractions is the nearby Valley Centertainment Leisure Park, offering a broad selection of fun activities including a ten-pin bowling alley, Cineworld and Laser Quest. For your shopping fix, visit Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre, home to big name stores such as M&S and Next. Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre is less than a two-minute drive from Nexus Point with other supermarkets, like Aldi and Sainsbury’s, also on your doorstep.

There are also an array of restaurants and takeaways nearby, including a local Indian restaurant, a fish and chip shop, as well as everyday favorites like McDonald's and Subway.

Living at Nexus Point also grants you easy access to the M1, linking you to the rest of the country in under 20 minutes. Sheffield train station is also less than 15 minutes away, and the Sheffield Supertram service covers Owlthorpe, with the town boasting 3 tram stops.
