Living in Eastwood

A selection of schools that inspire

The site of our modern, design-led new homes, Eastwood is a town in Nottinghamshire County that’s surrounded by pretty rolling countryside; its scenic views being a significant reason why so many people choose to live there.

A town in part known for being the birthplace of modernist, free-thinking writer, D. H. Lawrence, Eastwood continues to boast great schools that do a brilliant job of helping their students tap into their creative sides.

Indeed, the primary school D. H. Lawrence once attended still stands today – the Greasley Beauvale Primary School

Apart from Greasley Beauvale, there are four other primary schools in Eastwood. These are the Florence Nightingale Academy, the Lawrence View Primary School, the Priory Catholic Voluntary Academy, and the Springbank Academy

The town also has a coeducational secondary school and sixth form – the Hall Park Academy.

Easy commuter links

Eastwood has two main coach providers, Trent Barton and Nottingham County Council.

Routes include services to Nottingham, Mansfield, Kimberley, Ilkeston, Heanor, Moorgreen, Selston, Alfreton, and Heanor.

Residents can also catch direct train services to the likes of Nottingham, Sheffield, Chesterfield, and Manchester from the nearby Langley Mill Railway Station.

Eastwood is also situated on the M1 motorway, allowing for easy access to the likes of London and Leeds.

Surrounded by woodland

As a town that overlooks farmland and woodlands, Eastwood is the perfect place to call home if you’re a nature lover and appreciate a nice gentle hilly walk.

Perhaps one of the most famous woodlands in the Eastwood region is Colliers’ Wood

A 14-hectare community woodland that forms part of the wider Greenwood Community Forest, Colliers’ Wood is particular popular amongst avid bird watchers.

Locals love it for its serene environment and it’s great knowing you have such a lovely escape right on your doorstep.

Shops on your doorstep

For your day-to-day groceries, Eastwood has a large Morrisons with everything you could possibly need.

However, there’s also the Giltbrook Retail Park – a major shopping district in Eastwood.

Its crown jewel is the massive IKEA situated there (perfect for when you’re customising your new spacious Avant home!), but the retail park is also home to a number of well-known retailers and restaurants including Barker & Stonehouse, Boots, Decathlon, Laura Ashley, Mamas & Papas, Next Home, Pets at Home, ScS, Sofology and TK Maxx.

Local community facilities

Aside from the beautiful views, living in Eastwood also grants you access to certain communal facilities including the Eastwood Library – with its extensive book collection and free Wi-Fi – and the Eastwood Community Sports Centre – a great facility to take advantage of if you enjoy an active lifestyle!

The community sports centre has two junior and two full sized football pitches as well as a cricket field and a basketball court.
