Nearby Schools

Althamer View is located just a seven-minute walk from Ross High School – a secondary school in Tranent that has undergone significant refurbishments over the last five years to ensure its facilities remain state-of-the-art. 

The school was also the recipient of the UNICEF Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Award in 2017 – an award that rewards schools which make a concerted effort to educate their students about their rights and the rights of others, the goal of this being to help foster positive relationships between students, their classmates, and their parents.

Our development is also within a half an hour’s walk of several well-regarded primary schools including Sandersons Wynd, St Martin’s and Preston Tower. 

Great transport links

With Althamer View only a 20-minute walk away from the neighbouring commuter town of Tranent, it’s easy to grab a Lothian Bus from Tranent to Edinburgh – which takes a little over half an hour to get to.

Prestonpans’ railway station, another neighbouring town, also offers a number of services to the likes of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Carstairs, and North Berwick, and is less than a five-minute drive away from Althamer View. 

Shops in Tranent

Tranent is home to both a big Aldi supermarket as well as an Asda supermarket. The town also has two pharmacies: the Wells Pharmacy and the Lloyds Pharmacy. 

You can also head down to Tranent Market during its market days to pick from a wide selection of local traders and to enjoy the freshest produce.

Things to do in Tranent

Whilst there’s a wide selection of restaurants and pubs in Tranent, serving up traditional Scottish grub, if you’re after things to do in Tranent that are a bit more active, the town’s got you covered. 

There’s the Loch Centre, a leisure centre only a six-minute drive away from Althamer View, which offers a pool, a gym, a sauna, and several fitness classes, as well as soft play for the kids.

Then, in terms of outdoorsy activities, there’s also the Tranent Golf Club and the Tranent Bowling Club, who are always looking for new members.
