Living in Catterick

Catterick is one of the pretty villages that makes up the Richmondshire District.

Bordering the Catterick Garrison – the military town it gets its name from – Catterick is a mellow, mostly residential area with a few local shops and restaurants.

Running alongside the village is the picturesque Brough Beck, which feeds into the larger River Swale.

If you are a fan of long walks in beautiful surroundings, Catterick might just be for you.

Ideally situated, the larger neighbouring market town of Richmond is only a short drive away from Catterick via the A6136. Arriva North East also operates regular bus services between Catterick and Richmond.

In Richmond, you can find some larger national retailers, including the likes of Lidl, W.H. Smith, Boots, and the Co-op.

For commuting further afield, the closest railway station can be found in Darlington, County Durham. Here you can find services to the likes of London, Newcastle and Edinburgh Waverly amongst other places. The railway station is about a 20 minute drive from Catterick.

For families with young children, Catterick offers a great primary and secondary school - the Michael Sydall CE Primary School and the Risedale Sports and Community College.

Catterick is known for its natural beauty, with plenty of green walking paths to choose from and the idyllic Brough Beck flowing alongside them.

Neighbouring the larger market town, Richmond, our houses in Catterick are ideally situated to allow residents at our Brompton Mews development to enjoy the best of both worlds: the serenity of Catterick and the excitement of Richmond.

Considered by some as one of the most romantic spots in the North East, Richmond is also an incredibly popular tourist destination thanks, in large part, to the impressive Richmond Castle.

However, beyond just its tourist-attracting landmarks, Richmond has a lot to offer the county’s locals too. The Influence Church, for example, regularly hosts concerts organised by Richmondshire Concerts – putting on 6 performances a year.

There’s also the recently restored Georgian Theatre Royal, a theatre that dates back to the 18th century and is the oldest working theatre in its original form in the UK.

If you are interested in one of our new houses in Catterick, at our Brompton Mews development, whether you are looking for part exchange or one of our other great schemes, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll be happy to help you every step of the way.
