Why buy one of our new build homes in Derbyshire?

All of this, right on your doorstep

With the Peak District National Park covering most of the county’s northern half, living in one of our new build homes in Derbyshire presents a great opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful parts of England. Climb Kinder Scout to reach its highest peak, or if you want something more cultural, you can always pop by Chatsworth House, believed to be the inspiration for Pemberley in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice.

On a rainy day, head over to Hardwick Hall between Chesterfield and Mansfield, where you can visit the stunning 16th century country house, which is now also a museum of what life was like during Elizabethan times.

You can also take a cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, a hilltop park with plenty of things to do, including adventure playgrounds for the kids. From there, you’ll also be able to take in the stunning views of the Derwent Valley.

Golfers will also find plenty of courses in the area, with Cavendish Golf Club and Kedleston Park Golf Club ranked two of the best the county has to offer.

And if you want to take the kids somewhere exciting for the day, why not try Matlock Farm Park, which is packed with activities, ranging from go-karting to a petting zoo with Highland cattle and llamas.

Transport in Derbyshire

With the M1 and M6 on either side of the county, travelling up and down the country from our new homes in Derbyshire couldn’t be easier. The two motorways are also connected by the A50 to the south, while a wide network of other A-roads keep towns and villages well-connected.

The county’s main train hub can be found in Derby, where Derby station offers hourly services to the likes of London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Nottingham. Chesterfield station also has plenty of lines to jump on, with regular trains to Leeds, Norwich and Liverpool, among others.

Derbyshire is also well-served by buses, with companies such as trentbarton, Stagecoach and Arriva all helping cities, towns and villages connected with a well-established network.

As for any international travel, East Midlands Airport is the area’s main airport, located to the south of Derby and offering flights to various destinations all around Europe, but there is also the option of Manchester Airport to the north if you are looking to travel further afield, such as the United States or even Dubai.

Shopping in Derbyshire

Those looking for some retail therapy from one of our new builds in Derbyshire will find a shopping haven in Derby’s Derbion.

It’s the largest shopping centre in the East Midlands and is home to nearly 200 shops and restaurants for people to explore, ranging from high street favourites (H&M, All Saints, Mango, New Look…) to places to have a break to eat (Wagamama, Carluccio’s, Nando’s…). It’s also home to a cinema, a bowling alley and even an indoor padel court.

If it’s a bargain you’re after, head over to Designer Outlet East Midlands (just 30 minutes from Derby by car), where you’ll find over 65 of your favourite brands at discounted prices.

As for local produce, there are several markets popping up around the county on a regular basis, such as Bakewell Market (over 100 stalls) and Chesterfield Open Air Market, which has been trading for over 800 years.
