Regional Planning Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Regional Planning Manager to join our dynamic Regional Technical team at our Central regional office in Holmewood, Chesterfield.

To be considered for the role you will have a relevant qualification or broad experience in planning management along with providing advice on and securing planning approvals in order for the region to achieve its business plan.

You will also have experience delivering value-driven, commercially optimal solutions and KPIs.

Key duties and requirements

  • Provide the Development Director & Land Director with operational & tactical land appraisal planning reports, assessments presenting clear and reasoned planning advice in terms of potential risks/opportunities and likely planning gain requirements.
  • Work closely with Regional Development Managers, Group Land, Group technical teams and third-party providers to ensure that planning applications are prepared in accordance with Local Authority requirements.
  • Manage the regional planning application process through direct liaison with the Local Authority, Group Technical team, the Regional Development Director and Regional Development Manager and all third-party providers.
  • Proactively identify and under the guidance of the Regional Development Director negotiate planning gain contributions.
  • Manage the completion of all section agreements with the Local Authority and legal team.
  • Manage compliance with and coordinate the discharge of planning conditions.
  • Provide key status, project information, assessments, analysis and recommendations in relation to all planning matters, take action to mitigate planning risk, protect land acquisition, site start development targets and KPIs.
  • Monitor and report on both local and national planning policy changes and movements.
    • Engage in the process of determining, agreeing & delivering site start programmes and develop programmes so that planning matters are not a risk to meeting agreed timescales.
  • Provide effective & relevant planning reports and documentation for each development or phase of development.

To be successful as our Regional Planning Manager you will be able to evidence your previous success on delivering planning requirements. You will be seen as an expert in the planning field and an effective business/project delivery manager.

Delivering on excellence and control are key to the success within this role.
You must also possess the ability to actively manage key stakeholders in order to optimise the effectiveness of activities and impact. Previous experience of delivering the requirements of the technical function and its KPIs are crucial in order to achieve success within this role.

To be considered for this role you must also possess;

• A relevant qualification or broad experience in planning management.
• A track record of successfully delivering planning approvals.
• A broad understanding of the legal frameworks associated with planning management and development procurement.
• Good Technical and legal knowledge and Financial / Commercial awareness
• Broad awareness of codes of practice that impact on land acquisition and planning matters e.g. Planning Policy, Systems and Frameworks, both locally and regionally.
