Group Land Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Land Manager to join our land team based at our Group head office in Barlborough, Chesterfield.

To be considered for this role, you will currently be working as a Land Manager or Senior Land Manager within the house building industry either working for a new homes developer or a land agent.

Excellent communication and relationship building skills are essential for this role along with proven and documented knowledge of all elements of the land acquisition process. You must also be able source land for the immediate, short and medium term whilst also producing and presenting land offers and negotiating best possible terms.

Key duties and requirements

• Project managing the delivery of Group requirements acting as a key Group co-ordination point and expert in the Avant land acquisition process.

• Liaising and working closely with Commercial, Technical Design and regional Land as part of the process in the preparation of land bids and AFFA submissions through to completion of the purchase.

• Assessing and appraising Regional Land Information packs.

• Co-ordinating all necessary Group functions in the processing of land bids.

• To provide feedback and advice to the Regional Land teams in the progress of land bids.

• Ensuring close and effective Group/Regional Land team collaboration and working relationships are developed to assist in the land acquisition process.

• Support the preparation of Board Papers and support the Group Land Director to update the Board and Executive Management team on all land supply and land acquisition activity.

• Update and manage the regional Land Supply Schedules (LSS) and ensure all land files are properly maintained.

• support Regional Land teams as they enter negotiations and formulate offers to pursue land opportunities.

• Responsibility for the training, development and mentoring of the Group Assistant Land Buyer.

Who are we looking for?

As well as being able to demonstrate your experience within land management, you must also possess an aptitude to combine strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to relate to all levels of staff and stakeholders, whilst also maintaining a keen desire to work in a quality driven business.

A ‘Can Do’ attitude is vital as you will be presented to the business as a direct representative of the wider Land team and regional business.

The ideal candidate will also convey a flexible attitude in relation to business needs.

To be considered for this role you must also possess;

• A full UK driving licence

• A relevant qualification or proven experience in land acquisition, procurement and management.

• A strong network of proven contacts and a record of delivery.

• Detailed understanding of the legal and planning frameworks associated with land acquisition and development procurement.

• Technical, legal, financial and commercial awareness

• Awareness of codes of practice that impact on land acquisition and planning matters e.g. Planning Policy, Systems and Frameworks on a local basis
