Tell us a little bit about yourselves: 

We met six years ago and shortly after, we moved in together into a family members annex. This helped us save up to buy our own house, which we then bought three years later. We re-decorated the house twice, landscaped the garden ourselves with help from family and got our first dog, a cockapoo called Bia. Shortly after this, we started to think about either extending or moving. We decided the best option would be to move and invest in a larger forever family home.

Whilst looking for a new home, we got engaged on a weekend away, just before we reserved our dream home. During the home buying process, we got Bia a sister to move into the new house with, our second cockapoo Sadie. Now a family of four, we’re spending most of our time puppy training and making our house a home, ready for the next chapter of our lives. 

Which house type did you choose and why did you choose it?

We chose the 4 bedroom detached Palmbrook. We both loved the open plan layout of the downstairs and the generously sized bedrooms. We also loved how it looked from the outside. The house style was our favourite that we’d seen, compared to other developers. The closest house types we’d seen was much smaller elsewhere. 

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

Whilst searching for our next home, we found that there were very few older properties with the downstairs layout that we loved. So we would have had to make many costly changes or build an extension. We also liked the idea that everything would be brand new, so we wouldn’t have to do anything. 

It was also a huge benefit for us to use Avant’s Part Exchange scheme, which meant Avant took on the hassle of selling our old home, and we could sit back and relax and get excited for our beautiful new home! The Sales Advisor was a massive help with answering all our questions too. 

What do you love about your Avant Home?

We love that the house is double fronted with a centre porch. Having not had a garage at our previous home, this is a great addition to have. We love the downstairs space, with the open plan living kitchen/dining area with a separate snug, study, utility, and downstairs WC. There’s so much storage space! 

Did you go for any upgrades from Avant’s optional extra range?

Yes, we went for spotlights in some rooms, upgraded kitchen cupboards, quartz worktops, premium bathroom tiles, induction hob, integrated dishwasher and an outside light and tap. We loved being able to put our stamp on our home. 

How has your life changed since you moved into your Avant Home?

Having much more storage space, has meant we’ve been able to create a guest room for family and friends to come and stay over. The downstairs layout has given us a lot more space for entertaining and a dedicated place for Jack to work from home.  

What is the community like on your development?

We’ve got lovely new neighbours that moved in at the same time as us. We’ve also joined the development’s Facebook group, which is great for updates and anything that’s happening. 

Do you have any tips for anyone looking to buy with Avant Homes?

Don’t be afraid to speak to the Sales Advisors, they are all lovely and more than happy to do everything they can to get you your dream home. As well as helping make the buying process as smooth as they can.
