Tell us a little bit about yourselves:

We met at the start line of the Leeds Marathon in May 2024 through a mutual friend and ran the marathon together, chatting the entire way, finishing in 3 hours and 49 minutes—a personal best for both of us! We both agreed that it was each other who helped us get through it.

After the race, Nathan asked our friend for my number and texted me a few hours later. Since then, we’ve been almost inseparable.

Running is a shared passion, and to celebrate where we first met, we ran the Leeds Marathon together again in May 2025. Since then, we’ve also completed the Manchester Half Marathon, Temple Newsam Half Marathon, Milan Half Marathon, and Wakefield 10K. We make a habit of doing Rothwell Parkrun every Saturday morning. Staying fit is important to us—we both go to the gym regularly and even set up a home gym.

We also love traveling and going on holidays. In June, we went to Ibiza to celebrate Chloe’s 30th birthday. Nathan has two children, whom we care for 50% of the time. We enjoy taking them on days out to the seaside, museums, or the local park, where they especially love the zip line.

What was your living situation before buying with Avant?

Before we bought our home, we both had separate houses. But as we were with each other most nights and paying two mortgages, it just made sense to buy a home together.

Which house type did you buy and why did you choose it?

We chose the 5-bedroom detached Ashford, which comes with a double garage. The main draw for us was the huge south/west-facing garden—it’s perfect for hosting friends and family, especially for BBQs. We also love the extra living space downstairs, which we’ve converted into a home gym with a bike, rower, and weights.

The location is fantastic. There’s a farm shop just around the corner, a great pub with a spacious beer garden right opposite the development, a village primary school just down the road, and Rothwell town centre less than five minutes away, complete with a local Aldi. What more could you ask for?

Why did you choose Avant over other developers?

The Avant sales team were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole process smooth and enjoyable. They also offered a range of incentives, which made the house excellent value for money.

Did you know any family or friends that already lived in an Avant home?

No we didn't, however we knew a lot of people who were interested in living at Strawberry Fields.

What was your motivation for moving?

To live together in a family home.

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

We wanted a fresh start with clean, white walls—without the hassle of taking on a renovation.

How did you find the buying process?

It was stress-free and super easy, we built such a good relationship and rapport with the sales team, so we were in constant contact with them. They were always contactable through emails and phone calls.

What do you love most about your home?

The main reason we chose our plot was the huge garden—it was non-negotiable for us, as we love hosting friends and family. Now, we have the perfect space for BBQs and outdoor gatherings. Nathan also loves the double garage, which is ideal for storing his bikes, camping gear, and a large BBQ.

Inside, we adore the open-plan kitchen, where we spend most evenings cooking and catching up. The utility room is a real bonus too, cleverly hiding the washing machine and boiler. The snug has been a fantastic addition as well, giving us the perfect space for our home gym.

Did you go for any upgrades from Avant's optional extras range?

We chose to upgrade to spotlights throughout the entire downstairs to enhance the minimalist style we were aiming for. We also upgraded the carpets, opting for a thicker, softer option for extra comfort. In addition, we upgraded the kitchen and tiles to the bathrooms for a more modern, finished look.

Have you found your energy bills more affordable since living in an Avant home?

It’s much more affordable than we expected, especially coming from running two separate households.

How has life changed since you moved into your Avant home?

We have so much more time in the day now that we live under the same roof. Before, we were always packing bags to move between each other’s homes, but now we love simply coming home and being together.

What is the community like on your development?

The sales team told us we’d get on well with our neighbours—and they were right! We moved in around the same time and have already built a great relationship. We’ve spent time together at the local park, given each other house tours, and have even invited them to our first BBQ.
