Welcome to Telford; a popular town in Shropshire known for its natural beauty and rich cultural scene, despite only being formed in the sixties as part of the UK’s initial wave of new towns.

There are a number of excellent places to eat in Telford and the following 10 Telford restaurants are amongst its very best.

Restaurant 1840

One of the more elegant restaurants Telford has to offer, Restaurant 1840 is an exquisite choice for a night out in the town.

Situated in a restored 19th century Methodist church, the restaurant is an architectural marvel with a beautifully ornate interior.

Using only the freshest locally sourced ingredients in their largely seasonal menus, Restaurant 1840 gives diners a posh, high-end experience at a surprisingly affordable price, making it the perfect place for big celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries etc.

Spiceland Indian Restaurant

Remove any pre-existing notions you have of your typical ‘Britishified’ Indian restaurant, Spiceland doesn’t play to those conventions.

Offering genuinely authentic Indian cuisine, with a health-conscious approach to sourcing ingredients and preparing them, Spiceland is the true taste of India the UK’s restaurant scene has been starved of.

With an extensive menu that includes many vegan options (including vegan wine!), the waiting staff at Spiceland always seem happy to take you through the intricacies of each dish, fully immersing you in India’s rich culture.

LYFBAR

A healthy, made-to-order delivery service, LYFBAR is unlike any of the other takeaway restaurants in Telford.

Offering freshly prepared, macronutrient-balanced comfort foods, their menu of burgers, burritos and perfectly cooked fries has no right being as good as it is, especially as they market themselves as a healthy alternative to fast food.

Indulge in all of your favourites without the associated feelings of guilt or regret with one of LYFBAR’s patented LYXBOXES.

Albion Inn

A popular gastropub in Telford, Albion Inn is particularly known for their excellent Sunday roasts.

Served out of their Old College Bistro, Albion Inn is your place for warm, home-cooked food and all sorts of real ales, ciders and lagers.

The pub also features a beer garden, offering scenic views of the surrounding Shropshire Plains, and a play area for kids – making Albion Inn the ideal spot for lunches out with the whole family.

Tarkawalla

Bringing the distinct taste of Bengal to Telford, Tarkawalla specialises in preparing true-to-tradition East Indian dishes, faithfully recreating Bengal’s rich culture through a menu and venue that scintillates all the senses.

Offering both eat-in and delivery options (with the delivery option coming with a significant discount), Tarkawalla is one of those Telford restaurants that really needs to be experienced.

Black Sea Café

A proudly Bulgarian café, the Black Sea Café offers patrons a cosy escape from their day-to-day stressors.

With a menu featuring a comforting selection of soups, a tasty array of milkshakes and ice creams as well as some of the most popular desserts to come out of Bulgaria, for something light, the Black Sea Café comes highly recommended.

Novello Lounge

A member of the famous Lounges, Novello is best suited to those with an appreciation for the quirkier things in life.

With its own eccentric and informal style, Novello’s unique aesthetic lends itself perfectly to your Instagram feed and its brunch menu isn’t half bad either.

It’s hard to say no to their pancakes, and their burgers, paninis and exciting range of desserts – including churros, ice cream sundaes and ice cream doughnuts - is quite simply unmissable if you find yourself wandering the streets of Telford.

Miller & Carter

Miller & Carter’s offering is simple; they do steak, and they do steak well.

Recognised by the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs as ‘The Masters of Steak’, there are few who would dispute that Miller & Carter were deserving of such an honour.

Each of their prime British and Irish steaks are finely aged for at least 30 days before being cooked, demonstrating how seriously Miller & Carter take preparing the perfect steak.

The restaurant also offers a number of Steak and Cocktail deals (their cocktails are out of this world!), and is conveniently situated within the Cineworld complex, making for the perfect dinner and a movie date spot.

The Queen at Horton

The Queens at Horton is a beloved family run pub and hotel, fully enshrined within the community and playing host to many Sunday lunches and Christmas dinners over the years.

Sourcing their ingredients from reputable local suppliers has allowed them to serve up a menu of only the freshest and juiciest homemade burgers, as well as local British favourites like fish and chips, at very reasonable prices.

Vineyard Cantonese Restaurant

Recently under new management, Vineyard Cantonese Restaurant has since been plauded for its authentic menu, generous portion sizes and extensive vegetarian and vegan-friendly options.

Promising hot and fresh comfort food at a fair price, if you’re into your Chinese food, Vineyard comes highly recommended. The restaurant also offers patrons parking.
