Living in Telford

Situated right by the stunning Shropshire Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Telford is a lovely town in Shropshire that runs alongside the River Severn.

A town with much to offer beyond its natural beauty, we have several new homes in Telford, at our Monkswood development, that have proven to be quite popular.

Find out below just a few of the reasons why people are so keen on living in Telford.

All the things to do in Telford Town Centre

In 2007, Telford saw its town centre be completely revamped as part of the transformative Southwater project.

This saw key parts of its town centre become pedestrianised and the council’s introduction of a number of new cafés, shops, a library, a bowling alley/arcade, and a new cinema in Telford (the Cineworld Imax). This, in addition to Telford having one of the few ice-skating rinks in the Midlands (at the Telford International Centre), has made Telford a standout of the Shropshire region.

The town centre is also home to Telford’s longstanding shopping centre, a staple of the town, home to not only a number of well-known brands but also some of the more popular restaurants in Telford and an Odeon cinema.

Beyond Telford’s town centre, Telford is also home to several golf courses including the Shropshire Golf Centre, the Horsehay Village Golf Club, the Wrekin Golf Club, and the Telford Golf Club.

Commuting in and beyond Telford

There are three different train stations in Telford, all on the Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton line. These are: Telford Central, Oakengates and Wellington. From any of these stations, it’s a direct and straightforward service to Shrewsbury where commuters can change for Virgin services to London Euston.

Within the town itself, Arriva Midlands is the main bus operator, making it easy to get in and around Telford.

Primary & secondary schools in Telford

In addition to being home to an impressively wide selection of primary schools, there are also 20 different secondary schools in Telford (as of 2023), including the likes of the Telford Langley School, the Holy Trinity Academy, the Madeley Academy, and Southall School – who all achieved a rating of ‘Good’ as of their most recent Ofsted inspections.

Telford is also home to the University of Wolverhampton’s Business and Technology Centre as well as its School of Engineering and the Built Environment; providing the town’s youth with a number of excellent academic and career opportunities.
