Further restrictions in Scotland
On Jan 13 the First Minister made a further announcement relating to increased Covid-19 restrictions in Scotland. These new guidelines prohibit (by law) the working in occupied homes by a contractor unless the works are classed as essential.
Therefore, it is with regret that we must cancel all non-essential customer service works until Scottish government advice changes.
You can still raise any issues regarding your home via our regional customer service teams who are available by email or telephone, but we will not be in a position to confirm any appointment dates for works to be carried out with our contractors until we are authorised to do so. At this time, we will also re-arrange any appointments that have been cancelled.
Essential works will still be carried out. If you have an issue which falls into one of the categories below, please contact us immediately.
- An uncontained water leak
- A total loss of heating
- A drainage issue resulting in foul water entering the property
- Security issues (Unable to secure the property)
- Total loss of electricity (please ensure that you speak to your energy provider in the first instance to check it isn’t a supply issue)
The safety of our staff, contractors and our valued customers remains our priority and we thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.
Update: Jan 5, 2021
Following yesterday’s announcements by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon that England and Scotland will enter national lockdowns from January 5, we would like to clarify what this means for Avant Homes customers.
Both UK and Scottish Government advice in relation to this latest lockdown is that construction works will continue as they are regarded as an essential business operation.
In addition, activities in connection with moving home (including viewing a property) or activities in relation to the maintenance, purchase or sale of residential property, remain exempted under the new stay at home guidance.
Avant Homes will therefore be open and available to assist all our purchasers at our developments throughout England and Scotland.
We will continue to operate under strict Covid-19 safety guidelines, which have been successfully implemented across all our developments since August last year, to safeguard the wellbeing of everyone who visits them.
Visiting our showhomes
Showhomes at our developments remain open by appointment for new home sales, or customers can book a virtual appointment. If you visit one of our showhomes, please wear a mask at all times and follow the safety advice which will be sent to you before your appointment.

In the process of buying a new Avant Home
If you are in the process of buying a home with us, then your purchase will proceed as normal. Please contact your sales advisor if you have any questions you would like to ask.
Work being carried out in customers’ homes
Customers waiting for works to be carried out in their home will receive an update from our customer services team in due course regarding any potential or known delays to the works due to the lockdown announcements.
We intend to continue operating throughout the lockdown period whilst following relevant UK and Scottish Government public health guidelines.

Please be advised under new tiering restrictions across England from today that we continue to operate as normal by appointment. Update: 11 December 2020
Following the lifting of the national lockdowns in England and Scotland, and the implementation of a tier system across the UK, we continue to operate as normal.
Construction is ongoing and our developments are open by appointment. Our teams are ready and available to help you with new, longer and more flexible operating hours. Book a face-to-face or virtual appointment to suit you.
Our operating hours over the festive period are:
Dec 21 – 23 10am to 8pm
Dec 24 – 27 closed
Dec 28 – 30 10am to 8pm
Dec 31 10am to 5pm

National Lockdown in England
With England’s national lockdown starting on November 5 we’d like to let all you homeseekers and homeowners know that we will continue to operate as normal throughout. Safety, as always, remains our number one priority and everything we do will be in line with the UK government’s latest guidance. Our construction sites remain open and our Sales and Customer Service teams will continue to be available and contactable.
Tier Restrictions in Scotland
Guidance on moving home in Scotland makes clear that home moves and associated activities will continue to be permitted, so long as they can be carried out safely. You can read the full guidelines here.

What if I’m an existing customer? How will the lockdown in England or Tier system in Scotland affect me?
Your Avant Customer Service team is fully operational and here to assist as normal. Should a change in process or policy from a third party supplier effect your build, or any issues post-completion, we will advise you of this directly.
Will I need to download the NHS app before an appointment?
We do ask that all customers in England download the app (which you can find here) and scan the QR code located at the marketing suite or showhome. In Scotland, you will be directed to the Protect Scotland app which you can download here.
