Five must-have autumnal trends to add to your home

Autumnal trends2

It’s that time of year again. The evenings are turning dark, the weather is cooler and the leaves are turning those beautiful sunset colours, which means only one thing - autumn has truly arrived!

This year, jetting off to discover the season on some of your favourite city breaks is off the cards, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring the pretty orange and yellow hues to your own home.

Discover our five must-have autumnal trends to add to your interior style this season.

1. Mini pumpkin displays

Who said pumpkins are just to be lit up on your doorstep on Halloween? Bring pumpkins indoors with a mini display.

The beauty of adding faux pumpkins to your home décor means that you don’t have to stick to the traditional orange of a real pumpkin. Pick up the artificial vegetable to match your style, whether that is pastel colours or metallics, we’re sure it will look spookily stylish!

2. Autumn wreaths

Door wreaths are a fabulous way to dress the exterior of your home during every season, and these days they’re not just for Christmas! Much like this one from John Lewis you can capture the autumnal season and Halloween vibes all in one with a mixture of a black and orange colourway.

Or, if you fancy bringing out your crafty side, why not make your own? Collect artificial foliage or pick from your garden to create a centrepoint wreath for your home.

3. Cosy covers

As the weather starts to get cooler, cosy is the way forward and revamping your soft furnishings is a must. First things first – get those must-have blankets and cushions for movie marathons like this throw blanket from Urban Outfitters. Complete with flowers too, keeping you dreaming about the summer to come.

A trend everyone is talking about this season is the ‘Teddy Bear’. Soft and snuggly, this comes in the form of bedding, throws, quilts, pillows and rugs. The Teddy Bear bedding from Dunelm is the softest around for cosy nights in and breakfast in bed.

4. The colours of spice

If adding simple décor updates isn’t your style, then why not give your walls a little update with colours of your favourite autumnal spices.

If you love a bit of cinnamon then the new Dulux Colour of the Year ‘Brave Ground’ may be for you. It’s gorgeous natural and neutral tones are the perfect canvas to add autumnal trends to your home.

Farrow & Ball’s Charlotte’s Locks is a deep and playful orange that gives a spectacularly bold autumn look while giving an essence of pumpkin spice.

5. Spend autumn outdoors

Your garden isn’t always where you want to spend time during the colder weather, but don’t lock your doors just yet, as we have just the way to make use of your garden this season.

Load your outdoor furniture with cosy cushions and blankets, and invest in a fire pit to enjoy those autumn evenings with the whole family. Or if you want to bring movie night outside, find out here how to create your very own outdoor cinema.
