Adding fresh spring colours to your home

Spring colours3

The days are finally getting longer and the sun is peeking out amongst the clouds.

When I nipped out to the shops this morning, I didn’t even need a coat. I think we can say with certainty that spring is definitely on its way.

While Mother Nature is busying herself adding a fresh touch to our outdoors, we may be wishing for the same light and airy look in our own homes. Thankfully, we can look to the High Street as well as some smaller independent online shops to fill our needs for the softest shades this season.

Swapping out and adding some fun and fresh new accessories is the easiest way to lighten and brighten the home so take cues from nature in the softest pink clouds, pale blue skies and new shoots appearing in our gardens to give your home a little sunshine this spring.

Keep it cosy

For textiles, Oliver Bonas is serving up the softest sheepskin cushion in a pale soft blue that makes the perfect transition piece for your sofa or bed this season. It may be a bit too cold to store all our extra layers but this cosy number is perfect for when the rains come and staying indoors is still a tempting option. It’ll continue to look great in summer in a minty shade that lightens and refreshes your home.

For something a little moodier, check out West Elm’s option in dusty pinks and peaches (THREE) that reminds me of a desert landscape. The darker colours mixed in will be perfect for those who like their interiors with a bit of an edge but it’s still light and airy enough to work well into the warmest months.

It’s all in the details

Marks and Spencer’s embroidered bird cushion in soft pastels (TEN) will certainly keep the maximalists happy with the added details that make it look much more expensive than its £35 price tag. Speaking of details, I love the mix of soft spring colours in Oliver Bonas’ ceramic vase (SIX), perfect to lighten up a sideboard or coffee table with a posy of fresh blooms.

A textural rug is another perfect piece that’ll transition well into warmer months and the Ashtik wool rug from West Elm (FOUR) will add both texture and colour play to a neutral room. Bring in lots of houseplants (you’ll have a better chance of keeping them alive now the sun has come out to play) for the perfect boho look at home.

Add some art

If you are looking for some eye-catching artwork to liven up your home this spring, Desenio has great prices and a myriad of options for every taste. I particularly like their peachy pink and gold marble print that starts at just £15.99 (ONE).

Entertain in style

With less temptation to just stay in and hibernate, entertaining in the spring months becomes much more plausible an option and spring hues are the perfect backdrop for inviting guests around. Check out Oliver Bonas’ pastel champagne glasses (FIVE) for a cocktail party and get the tunes going retro-style on Urban Outfitters’ Crosley record player (SEVEN) in the softest mint green.

Time to relax

For the morning after the night before, settle in on this rather delicious turquoise chair from LuxDeco(NINE) which will bring with it a burst of spring style and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee brewed in Mia Fleur’s coffee maker (EIGHT) for slow Sunday morning style.
