Jenny Bennett swapped lesson plans for site plans to train at the Avant Homes Centre of Excellence where she has been taught new skills on becoming a sales advisor.
A secondary school teacher for seven years, Jenny took the decision to change her career after craving a new challenge in a sector where she could use still use her skills whilst learning something new - a step change welcomed by the housebuilder.
Established in October 2016, Avant Homes’ Sales Academy was created to provide a bespoke and dedicated learning and development environment.
The scheme, includes a six-month intensive programme, and focuses on identifying and developing people without new homes sales experience, but with the raw talent to become outstanding sales advisors. Trainees are taken behind the scenes of the housebuilding industry to help equip them with the technical knowledge to understand Avant Homes’ points of difference from both a design and build perspective.
Speaking about her experience at the Sales Academy Jenny said: “After spending seven years teaching I was looking for a new career that would not only allow me to use the skills I already possess but also help me to develop new ones. I love working closely with people and so the customer facing nature of a sales advisor role really appealed to me.
“Avant Homes offers a great product and I’m really pleased that I was selected for the position from outside of the housebuilding industry due to the additional insight and expertise I could bring to the sales team. I’d never have thought so many of the skills I accrued in teaching would be easily transferable to my new role, and I look forward to the next steps in becoming a successful sales advisor.”
Now that Jenny has graduated from the academy she will begin working as a sales advisor in Yorkshire where she will utilise a combination of her established skills from the teaching profession, and knowledge from the academy training.
Since its launch 29 sales advisors have graduated from Avant Homes’ Sales Academy and seven trainees are currently undergoing the programme.
