Avant Homes’ Peter Adams recognised in the 2019 CIO 100 For Business Systems Innovation

The Annual CIO 100 Awards celebrates 100 organisations and the teams within them that are using IT in innovative ways to deliver business value, whether by creating competitive advantage, optimising business processes, enabling growth or improving relationships with customers.

Operating throughout Scotland, North East England, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the Midlands, Avant Homes is one of the leading developers of residential property in the UK.

In the last 12 months Peter and his team have overhauled the businesses management information strategy and solutions to provide robust, effective performance analytics and insight to its operations. Benefits include revised data architecture enabling a single automated source of accurate information showing actuals, budgets, variances and trends. This has enabled a more effective measurement of operations activity and a consumer driven approach to reporting that allows information to be readily at hand providing insight and opportunity to drive the business forward.

Peter was the only representative from the housebuilding sector to be named in the exclusive list, sitting alongside organisations such as Shell, Yodel, BAE Systems, Cancer Research UK and the Bank of England. He was awarded the accolade at a celebration dinner at the May Fair Hotel in London alongside the UK's top technology leaders.

Commenting on the award Peter said: “Avant Homes has an ambitious growth strategy and in the last 12 months we have invested heavily in the modernisation of our internal core infrastructure and management information systems to enable further successful growth.

“This has only been made possible thanks to the support of the senior management team and I am extremely proud to receive this award in recognition of what we have achieved. This success is also shared with the entire business systems team and is reflective of all their hard work and dedication.

Avant Homes currently has 59 developments and employs over 700 people. In 2018 the business launched a five-year strategy to hit £1bn in revenue and 4,000 homes by 2023.

Avant Homes chief executive officer, Colin Lewis, said: “As we enter our next phase of growth, it is critical that we continue to evolve and enhance our business to maintain our positive momentum.

“In order to achieve our goal, we require robust internal systems and enhanced communication platforms to create competitive advantage, support our people and enhance customer engagement and aftercare. Peter’s experience and innovative approach has been instrumental in implementing a number of new systems that are hugely benefiting the business and his position in the CIO 100 is well deserved.”
